Talkly AI is operated by CYPHLAB (PRIVATE) LIMITED (“Talkly AI”, “we”, “us”, or “our”). This Privacy Policy applies to the Talkly AI mobile application, talklyai.com, and related support services (together, the “Services”).
1. Information we collect
Account and contact information
Depending on how you register, we may collect your name, email address, account identifier, authentication provider, country, country code, and country flag. For supported mobile-operator plans, we may also process a phone number, operator type, and subscription identifier.
Learning profile and activity
We process information you provide to personalize learning, such as your English level, age range, gender, goals, preferred topics, speaking difficulties, and chosen learning methods. We may also process lesson progress, quiz and game scores, streaks, achievements, favorites, usage limits, leaderboard entries, and saved learning history.
Voice, text, and AI interactions
When you use speaking, pronunciation, grammar, translation, chatbot, or AI conversation features, the app processes microphone audio, speech transcriptions, prompts, written answers, and AI responses. This information is sent only when needed to deliver the feature you select. Talkly AI does not intentionally keep raw microphone audio as a permanent account record unless a feature clearly tells you that it is being saved. Our AI and speech service providers may process or temporarily retain inputs under their own security and retention controls.
Purchases and subscriptions
We receive product, entitlement, purchase status, subscription status, and transaction identifiers from Apple, Google, RevenueCat, or a supported mobile operator. We do not receive or store your full payment-card details.
Device, diagnostics, and usage information
We may collect app version, device and operating-system information, language, network status, IP address, feature usage, time spent, notification token and interactions, crash reports, diagnostic logs, and performance information. Where permitted, an advertising identifier or similar measurement data may be used after the required device permission is requested.
Support and safety information
If you contact support or report content, we process your message, contact details, the reported content, category, reason, and any details you choose to provide.
2. Device permissions
Talkly AI may request the following permissions when a feature needs them:
- Microphone and speech recognition: for speaking practice, transcription, pronunciation feedback, and live AI conversations.
- Notifications: for learning reminders, service messages, and app updates.
- Bluetooth and audio controls: to support headsets and reliable speaking or listening sessions.
- Network access: to load online features, communicate with AI services, and sync supported account data.
- Tracking permission on iOS: where applicable, for personalized advertising or advertising measurement. You may decline this request in your device settings.
You can change permissions in your device settings. Turning off a permission may prevent the related feature from working.
3. How we use information
We use information to:
- create and secure your account and maintain your session;
- provide AI conversations, speech feedback, translations, grammar help, lessons, games, and personalized plans;
- save progress, scores, streaks, favorites, subscription access, and leaderboard participation;
- process purchases, restore entitlements, and prevent subscription abuse;
- send requested notifications and important service communications;
- measure feature performance, diagnose crashes, improve reliability, and develop the Services;
- respond to support requests, content reports, privacy requests, and account-deletion requests; and
- detect fraud, enforce our terms, protect users, and comply with law.
5. Advertising and tracking choices
Talkly AI may use advertising or measurement technologies. On devices that require permission, we ask before accessing data used to track activity across other companies' apps or websites. You can change this choice in your device privacy settings. Declining tracking does not necessarily remove all ads, but ads may be less personalized.
We do not sell personal information in exchange for money. In some regions, certain advertising disclosures may be legally described as “sharing”. You may contact us to exercise any applicable opt-out right.
6. Data retention
We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably needed to provide the Services, maintain your account, meet legal and accounting obligations, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, and enforce agreements. Learning data stored only on your device generally remains there until you clear app data, delete your account through the app, or uninstall the app.
After a verified deletion request, information linked to your account is deleted or de-identified within a reasonable period, normally within 30 days. Limited records may remain longer where required for security, fraud prevention, tax, payment, dispute, or legal purposes. Residual copies may remain temporarily in protected backups until they are overwritten.
7. Security and international processing
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. No internet transmission or storage system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Talkly AI and its service providers may process information in Sri Lanka and other countries. Those countries may have different data-protection laws. We take reasonable steps to use appropriate safeguards where required.
8. Children's privacy
Talkly AI's account onboarding is intended for users aged 13 and older. If you are under the age at which you can consent to data processing in your country, a parent or legal guardian must review this Policy and authorize your use of the Services. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a child below the applicable minimum age without required parental authorization.
A parent or guardian who believes a child provided information without proper authorization should contact us so we can review and delete it.
9. Your rights and choices
Subject to local law, you may have the right to:
- request access to or a copy of your personal information;
- correct inaccurate or incomplete information;
- request deletion or restriction of processing;
- object to certain processing or withdraw consent;
- request data portability; and
- complain to your local data-protection authority.
You may delete an eligible account in the app from Settings → Account Actions → Delete Account & Data. For full instructions, visit our Delete Account page. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.
10. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy when the Services or legal requirements change. We will update the date above and provide additional notice in the app or by another appropriate method when a change is material.
11. Contact us
Contact us with a privacy question, rights request, or concern. Please do not send your password, PIN, one-time code, or full payment details.
